Over 27 Years of Industry Expertise
With over 27 years of experience in the construction industry, Gary has built a career around delivering highly technical, complex projects across multiple sectors, with particular expertise in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, education, and defence. His passion lies in tackling challenging design requirements and seeing innovative solutions come to life — for Gary, the more complex the project, the more rewarding the process.
Delivering Landmark Projects
Throughout his career, Gary has played a pivotal role in some of the UK’s most advanced research and manufacturing facilities. Highlights include:
- Building 85, Southampton – A multi-faceted academic and research facility incorporating student and professor spaces, specialist laboratories (including Class 2 and Class 3 labs), and bespoke finishes for multiple research councils, including DEFRA.
- Project Capella, University of Cambridge – A £79 million CL3 wet lab life sciences facility, forming part of the university’s “centre of excellence.”
- Rosalind Franklin Institute, Harwell – A £35 million biochemistry laboratory, delivered ahead of schedule, within budget, and snag-free, including specialist facilities for advanced electron microscopes.
- VMIC (now Catalent) – The UK’s first Vaccine Manufacturing Innovation Centre (£132.5 million), featuring state-of-the-art cleanrooms, MHRA-compliant laboratories, and vaccine production facilities.
- Moderna Buildings – Two separate facilities for drug substance manufacturing and R&D, including modular build BSL2 and BSL3 labs.
Championing Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical Innovation
Gary takes particular pride in helping to establish EPScm’s bespoke life sciences and pharmaceutical offering — securing and delivering high-value, technically advanced projects for clients such as Moderna.
Beyond the Office
Away from work, Gary enjoys fitness training and watching his son play rugby and football. A former military man, he now keeps his adventures closer to home — though his projects remain anything but ordinary.
