At EPScm, we’re proud to celebrate the people who drive our success. This month, Rebecca Johnson has joined us as Head of Health, Safety and Environment, her dedication, leadership and passion for continual improvement will help strengthen our culture of safety and excellence across every project.
A Passion for Challenge and Growth
With over seven years of experience in the construction industry, Rebecca has built a career defined by curiosity and a drive to embrace new challenges.
“I was keen to be continuously faced with new challenges and opportunities on a day-to-day basis. In construction, no two days are ever the same — the variety of projects allows me to be involved in every part of the construction lifecycle.”
Her career has spanned multiple sectors, including Facilities Management, High-End Retail, Utilities, and Construction, but her most extensive experience lies within Aviation. During four years at Heathrow Airport, one of the world’s busiest hubs, Rebecca contributed to a wide range of projects while simultaneously achieving her NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma and progressing through several roles.
Career Highlights
A standout moment in her career was her involvement in the HS2 Wendover Green Tunnel project near Aylesbury — part of the UK’s multi-billion-pound high-speed rail programme. The 1,185-metre-long cut-and-cover tunnel, complete with 120-metre porous portals to reduce noise, represented a remarkable opportunity to work on one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in Europe.
Leadership and Mentorship
One of Rebecca’s proudest achievements has been her commitment to developing others. In a previous role, she led a team of six health and safety professionals, from apprentices to advisors, supporting their growth and progression within the industry. Her dedication was recognised when she was awarded Mentor of the Year and named a finalist in the Women in Construction Awards, which celebrates women making an impact across Europe.
Looking Ahead at EPScm
Since joining EPScm, Rebecca has continued to demonstrate her passion for advancing health, safety, and environmental standards. She is currently working towards her IOSH Chartership, further reinforcing her commitment to professional excellence and to strengthening EPScm’s safety culture across all projects.
Beyond the Workplace
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys exploring new places with her dogs, staying active at the gym, and spending time in Cyprus, where her Greek Cypriot roots make it feel like home. She is also passionate about community engagement — having volunteered as a Community First Responder for the ambulance service and regularly visiting colleges to speak with young people about careers in construction and health and safety.
At EPScm, we’re proud to have Rebecca as part of our team. Her dedication to safety, mentorship, and continuous improvement embodies the values that make EPScm an exceptional place to work and grow.
